Oh the INDIGNITY!

Oh the indignity of today!!!

There I was enjoying a snooze when Mom came home early and said "Let's go Dor!" I thought wow, we must be going to do something fun, right? There she she stood, still in her work clothes, but she had a smile on her face and the car keys and my leash in her hand.

Off I went!

Everything was just dandy until we pulled into the dreaded place - the animal hospital. I tried to run, I attempted to hide - there was no hope. There I was trapped by my beloved Mother at the vet's office.

At first I was fine, but then the vet came in and started poking and prodding. I couldn't help myself - I peed the floor. I never pee like that, especially inside but I was just too afraid of what would happen next.

Well, then it happened, that mean old vet, he touched my SORE EAR!!!

I had no recourse, there I was pressed up against my mom trying to will myself into and through her and far away from the man, I was trapped and I did the unspeakable!!!

I tried to NIP the veterinarian!!

Mom was in shock, I have never barred my teeth at anyone or anything, NEVER and needless to say I immediately got muzzled. I am so sorry I tried to bite the vet - it's just he was sticking plastic pokey things in my very sore ears and I just wanted him to stop!!

So there I was, muzzled and miserable when they they led me away to get my "ears flushed" and my toes clipped. When they finally stopped torturing me and took me back to Mom, she sitting on the chair in tears. Mom had heard me crying all they way down the hall and between that and the nipping incident - we both were a little unhinged.

Now my mother has informed me that I have pills, ointment and wash all in hopes that the nasty yeast infection in my ears will GO AWAY.

My dear readers, if your human arrives home early, doesn't take time to change out of their work clothes and seems anxious to hustle you off in the car....RUN, it can only be one destination, the vet, so just RUN!

NOTE: Liza here, Dory has taken to her bed. She says she can write another word and doesn't want to speak to me the rest of the evening. I believe she is resting comfortably and I hope that after today's trauma both Dor and I can get back to normal. Dory and I would also like to thank everyone for their insightful and and supportive comments and emails about expanding our little family. We don't have a set timeline - so we will have to keep you posted from time to time as our adoption search begins. We have also enjoyed and appreciated the great comments on how our furry friends wake up their humans. We hope all our friends have a great week ahead! Keep on blogging!

Oh I don't blame you for trying to nip the vet. But you get in trouble for that. I hope all that stuff you have to go through will help out with your ears. they sound like they hurt a lot.

Dory, I did the SAME thing to my old vet. I had an infected ear and I took one big shark bite at the vet, but you cant muzzle a boston very easily!! :) Dad said No and pointed and then I was like, woops and was good after that.

Dory, you poor thing! You ears hurt - you can't be blamed for being testy - even if it is the vet and then nails!

Oh no Dory! I'm so sorry that your ears were yucky and you were tricked into going to the vet. Does your vet person give treats? Because, in my book, treats make everything better! I hope you heal fast.

Don't worry Dory - vets are used to that kind of thing - sore ears are VERY sore and will try the best of dogs.

Hope the ears get better soon

Oh Dory, I am so sorry that your ear is sore. I bet the vet understands that you were just hurting and didn't really mean to nip at him. I hope you feel better really soon!

I am so excited for you that you might get a new family member. I'll keep my paws crossed that you find just the right brother or sister for you!

Avery

Poor Dory - make sure that you make your mum feel REALLY guilty, and for a LONG time - she will give you extra treats to make it up to you ;)

Liza - you need a stiff drink to get over the trauma of the day !

Love

Hey Dory, I know exactly how you feel. I totally know the discomfort of the yeast infection, having had many myself. It's those damn cute floppy ears of ours.

Good luck with your sibling search ... oh, and I don't wake up my person. She gets up too freakin' early!

Poor Dory...I hate the Vet too and though I have never tried to nip her, I have WANTED TO! Sore ears are the worst. I have floppy ears too & used to get lots of infections.

Hope you're feeling better soon & I'll bet Mom will forgive your little momentary lapse of reason.

You poor thing!!! That sounds terrible!!!! I'm sure everybody understood you didn't mean the nipping and peeing. Don't be mad at your Mom too long, it had to be torture to her too, to listen to you crying. I hope the infection clears up soon. I'll watch for any signs of a vet trip. Mom has to go to the human vet tomorrow.

Dory...we are sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Muzzer said that Nigel, her ESS before I was her WFT (he's waiting for us at the bridge, wherever that is) used to get terrible ear infections. It is that lovely floppy ear you guys have. Anyway, Nigel got so testy one time that he not only peed on the floor, he pooped on the floor and then he threw up on the vet. Boy...I'll bet he was not welcome there for a while.

Thanks for nominating me for the blog award. I think I now have blogger block!

Hi Dory. I hope you ear get better soon. I had an infection some time ago and it was annoying. I use to shake my ears really hard all day long. Since then my mom cleans my ears almost every day. I don't like it but she wants to take away any chance to get another infection.

Dory - my sweet one - hate to think of you feeling ashamed, it happens to all of us though when we are nervous.

I have done it many times at the Vet and at the Kennels.......just a nervous reaction.

Be happy your Mum loves you, and she knows you are a good girl and it could not be helped.

love and licks Marvin xxxxxx
sorry I have not been commenting but things have been busy here with us!

Dory--Ouch! Your ear must have really hurt. I had yeasty beasties in my ear about a year ago and I had to have my ears washed and put in goopy medicine. Gross! But when I hurt I don't nip (I do that when I'm scared--or sometimes just to keep my gramps in line), I just act oppressed and sad and resigned.

But, maybe this will cheer you up. My sissy Morgan HATED the vet and once she POOPED on him! Haha! So think about the mean vet getting POOPED on. Hilarious! Morgan had perfect comic timing.
